Thursday March 31, 2011 offereing

I came up with this back when our boys were 4 and 7 years old. "Teenage Mutantant Ninja Turtles" was the #1 kids cartoon show and so heavily marketed we parents of the 4 to 10 year old set were beseeched with pleas for "Turtles" merchandise ranging from toys to clothing items to school supplies. Locating a particular item at Christmas was an experience akin to being caught up in a mob of looters during a riot.
The model for this drawing was taken from a discarded cardboard box that once held one of the coveted Ninja toys.
After a few head scratching hours of trial and error sketching I finally came up with a finished product. I proudly unveiled it to the boys and was rewarded with a distainful (in unison) high pitched chorus of "DAAAaaaAD!" .... how dare I mock their idols!
I recently showed this to our guys (24 and 27 now) and the reaction was interesting .... nothing.
Kids .... sigh.

So here we go ....

.... and so we begin ....

This was one of my earliest creations. When I showed it to my friend Reg, he suggested the caption: "Well Morley, I guess it's back to fishing for us."  Morley ... what a great name for a dog!

Seems to me I submitted this along with others to Island Angler Magazine about 20 years ago. My submissions were never used nor returned. Their loss and quite literally mine.

Well, that's it for this week. I hoped you enjoyed these. I'll fire up a couple more next weekend.

My very first post ever!!!!

A friend recently suggested I start a blog and share my rather skewed creative works with the world. I went away and mulled it over for perhaps  ... ummmm ... ohhhh ... 10 seconds or so. OK, so here's my story.
Many years ago I left my life-sucking job in the soft drink industry and decided to pursue my dream in the world of cartooning. Well, I was just getting things going and a personal tragedy derailed me and long story short, here I am 20 years later picking up my pencil and drawing again. This time out I'm not actively pursuing having my work published. I just want to make people smile, laugh out loud and perhaps, just perhaps, pee themselves a little bit.
I have some drawings from my early days I will post very soon. After that I'll be adding new material as I complete it.
My next post I promise some of my work.
   Back soon and cheers!

Chris.
